European airline adds ‘child

Aug 19, 2023

Passengers on Corendon Airlines can start booking seats in the "Only Adult" zone on Nov. 3 to avoid being disturbed by screaming children and crying babies mid-flight.

Passengers on a European airline can look forward to more peaceful flights without screaming kids this fall.

Corendon Airlines will offer a “child-free zone” of 100 seats on its flights between Amsterdam and the Dutch-Caribbean island of Curaçao starting on Nov. 3.

Its “Only Adult” zone will be a section of seats open to passengers ages 16 years or older, according to Corendon’s press release. The new zone will be sectioned off by walls and a curtain at the front of the aircraft to create peace of mind for certain passengers.

Standard seats for a one-way flight start at $49, and if you want extra legroom, you will have to pay $109.

The “Only Adult” zone was designed for passengers “traveling without children and for business travelers who want to work in a quiet environment,” the airline said.

Although Corendon is the first airline to separate infants, the company is not the first airline to try and solve this problem.

Singapore-based Scoot offers a “Scoot in Silence” cabin for passengers 12 and older. AirAsia X also offers a quiet zone for passengers 10 and older.
