Kitchen Cabinet: Annabel Crabb's rice pudding with rhubarb and blackberries

Linda Burney, Minister for Indigenous Australians, is a woman whose personal life story traces the history of this country's evolution.

When she was born, Indigenous Australians did not enjoy the same voting rights as white Australians. Her birth — to a teenage white mother and an unnamed Aboriginal father — was a scandal in the small New South Wales Riverina town where she was raised by her great-aunt and uncle.

She went on to become the first Indigenous woman in the NSW Parliament, and the first Indigenous woman in the federal House of Representatives.

Given that Minister Burney grew up where pretty much all of Australia's rice comes from, I decided to make her a fancy rice pudding. And rhubarb grows well in her Sydney electorate of Barton, so I included that too.
